2026 Retreat at Godwick Hall

This September, Barley Yoga will be hosting a retreat at the stunning Godwick Hall. Listening to you all in class, it felt like the right moment to truly dedicate time and fully immerse ourselves in the inspiring practices of yoga in a creative and holistic way.

Just a 50-minute drive from Norwich, this retreat is an invitation to embrace the season of abundance, where we can come together in a truly awe-inspiring environment. Step away from the normal busy hubbub of technology and daily life, and take a deep dive into your practice.

Within the grounds of the hall is an incredible medieval barn (with underfloor heating), where classes are offered throughout your stay. These sessions are designed to suit all levels, exploring four types of yoga to bring balance and harmony within, while embracing the unfolding and gently “infolding” nature of autumn.

Discover the intrinsic alchemy of your own breath through sound work, using voice, movement meditation, and inspiration from our highly skilled practitioners to guide you—always at your own pace.

Enjoy carefully crafted, nourishing whole-food meals, or simply take time out in the heated outdoor swimming pool and sauna. Surround yourself with the beautiful landscape deep in the heart of the Norfolk countryside.

The Venue

Nestled in acres of historical parkland, Godwick Hall & Great Barn is a stunning venue - I'm so excited to relax and connect with you all there. With a sauna, heated pool, surrounding nature and a beautiful old 'great barn', it's a perfect place to disconnect from day-to-day-life and reconnect with ourselves.

After a gentle welcome as we settle down in our new home for the next few days, we will be easing in with an art workshop from Nikki Mckay. As we take in our new surroundings we will be exploring vibrant colours. Everything on your retreat schedule is optional - you can tailor your experience to what you need - so you will have an alternate option to journal or explore the area instead.

 

We will come together for our first night to eat a homemade dinner before our restorative yin yoga and sound bath.

 Theme: Universe within a seed

An optional 6am meditation will ground us ready for the day. We then will dive straight in to our workshop on joints and glands followed by blissful sunrise hatha yoga. After breakfast you will indulge in your own time where you will have an option to craft, relax in the sauna, brave the outdoor pool, walk, run, read - whatever fills your cup.

 

I’m super excited to introduce ‘Asana Lab’ to you all at 11am, followed by Somatic yoga and myofascial release before lunch. After a tasty lunch and more free time, we will be blessed with a special ‘Bio-energetic voice and breathwork' workshop ran by special guest Juliet Russell.

 

After dinner you can relax to some gentle live music and then our Pranabeats evening will begin where we will move and groove to sounds from around the globe.

We will begin our final day with a walking meditation experience at 6am. Qigong outside will be a perfect oppourtunity to fully absorb the nature around us before we have to leave it all behind. Our breakfast feast is our final goodbye and thank you for embracing the wonder of the last few days. We will checkout at 11am and I hope you are left feeling lighter, brighter and blissed out. Hopefully you feel warmth from the community while simultaneously feeling more relaxed from the time you’ve spent nourishing yourself here at Godwick Hall.

Barley Yoga

Special Guest

Barley has been teaching yoga since 2012 and a dance teacher since 1990. Her experience in the yoga and dance world has helped people feel at one with themselves again. Teaching classes in both Newark and Norfolk, she has touched the lives of many and recently became trained in Qigong to develop strength and purpose for her own somatic practice.

Nikki Mckay

Workshop Hosts

Nikki Mckay is an artist and dance teacher. Her paintings use colour and the female form to create a language of mood and movement as expressed from the point of view of the subject rather than as a voyeur. She is looking to do art workshops on the first day to settle us into our new environment.

Juliet Russell

Juliet Russell has performed her music (often sung in light language) around the Globe -from the National theatre rooftops to ancient Mayan temple sites. We will work with Juliet using Bioenergetic breathwork and vocal release to gently explore our own powerful call to the light …. And also hear her perform music inspired by the Celts to the Balkans and beyond
