BARLEY YOGA TESTIMONIALS

Barley's classes have been a special highlight of our weeks, during this year of pandemic restrictions. Her unstinting enthusiasm, energy and optimism have been much appreciated. The development of a theme each week building to an in-depth exploration of different aspects and schools of yoga e.g. 'chakras' accompanied by carefully selected texts and verses have all made her approach so much more meaningful. Barley's empathy is always apparent in the way she suggests alternatives to suit different stages of development. We have gained so much both physically and mentally and strongly recommend her classes for anyone whether beginner or experienced practitioner. Go on - give it a go!

Barley's enthusiasm for yoga shines through every session. I always enjoy Barley's classes, particularly early morning, yin and restorative sessions. Barley is sensitive to personal needs, giving alternatives for those less able or experienced. Her sessions include peripheral information about yoga philosophy, relating this to normal life, helping students to see how to use yoga in everyday situations. While Coronavirus restrictions were in place I have been so grateful for Barley's on-line classes. The regular timetable gave me a structure to my days, something to get out of bed for - a great start to the day!

I started a weekly class with Barley as pretty much a beginner in October 2019 and loved it. The Zoom classes offered during lockdown have been a real lifeline. A source of companionship, support and stimulation. Barley is warm, welcoming and really does include everyone. It feels like a family and as the months have passed I have noticed real positive changes in both my physical and mental well-being. I'm more flexible, my balance has improved and I am a calmer and more pragmatic person. I would recommend Barley's classes to anyone and everyone.

Before lockdown I attended Barley’s classes weekly. The classes were large however the atmosphere Barley created was warm and welcoming and she respected each individual for their abilities and limitations which allowed individuals to work at whatever level they were comfortable with. There were always alternatives given if required. I looked forward to them and always enjoyed them.

During lockdown I have been participating in a variety of Barley’s classes ( Hatha, Yin, chair, restorative)  via Zoom & in fact, despite the technology the classes are as good if not better (particularly as there is not the journey & possible parking to consider & items around the home can be adapted for props). It is evident that Barley has done a lot of preparation for each class, she is always welcoming & attentive to all participants whether new or returners and she has your safety & comfort as priority as well as giving encouragement, suggestions & alternatives if necessary to enable you to get the best for yourself. I really look forward to each class & marvel at how quickly the time goes & how you feel part of a friendly group. I know I have benefitted (physically & psychologically) from the exercise, stretch, breathing & relaxation. I enjoy learning new moves & breathing patterns as well as doing the more familiar. Like everyone else in these challenging times I have tension, tight tissues & knots however attending the sessions has enabled me to untangle & manage as well as relax whilst having fun. Barley is always happy to talk to individuals prior to the class & actively welcomes feedback & ideas.

I know Barley’s classes have helped me enormously during lockdown & I can highly recommend them (live or virtual) whether one is new to yoga or not .
